Healthy Weight Loss in The Winter

Losing weight at any time of the year can be difficult, but even more so during the cold winter months. It is so much easier to skip any exercise routine during the cold of winter. Especially if one is using any kind of a walking program. But, with a simple change of attitude the winter can be an excellent time for healthy weight loss.

Most people would take a nice walk on a warm summer day as opposed to a walk in the cold of winter. And if you can make that simple change of attitude, winter can be the perfect time to walk off weight, even if you’re not a “snow bunny”. Sticking with your usual exercise routine is one of the best ways to boost your chances of starting the new year a size smaller. If you got used to walking outdoors throughout the summer months, switching to a different activity for cold weather in the winter can make your weight loss even more of a struggle, says John Jakicic, PhD, assistant professor in the weight control and diabetes research center at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, RI.

One thing about the weight loss industry is that there is always some sort of research being done. Studies have shown that people who lose weight and keep it off do so by exercising the equivalent of walking 3 to 4 miles a day. No matter what the weather, they find a way–and you can too. We’ll show you how to easily transition from fall to winter so that you can slim down–even during the holidays. You’ll look fantastic come spring, your bones will stay strong, and your walking muscles won’t be screaming when you head out for your first warm-weather jaunt.

Just because the weather is cold does not mean one should give up exercising during the winter months. Healthy weight loss is a year long endeavor. Walking in the winter offers you a refreshing change of pace, says Alan Mikesky, PhD, director of the human performance and biomechanics laboratory at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. The invigorating cold air can clear your mind and reduce stress, which can be helpful for weight loss. Walking in the cold air may also encourage you to walk faster, raising your heart rate and therefore increasing your metabolism.

One of the best exercises for weight loss is walking. Getting outside during daylight hours also increases levels of serotonin, a hormone that helps calm cravings. Fresh air and sunlight are also good for your overall health not just your weight loss. However, when the weather is cold, why not treat yourself to a new, fleecy top. High-tech synthetic fabrics make a big difference to your comfort, so they’re worth the investment. You’ll be much happier and more energized if you’re warm and dry instead of sweaty and chilled, and therefore more likely to continue with your exercise regime. Allow at least 10 minutes to warm up, as when it’s cold, your heart and muscles need more time to get ready.

Being outside during the winter certainly doesn’t mean that you have to be cold. When you step outside, you should feel slightly chilled but not cold. During your workout, you want to feel warm, not hot and sweaty. That means you need to dress in layers so that you can take them off or put more on as needed. Don’t forget a hat, gloves, and sunscreen!

An excellent piece of exercise equipment to invest in is a treadmill. If the weather’s bad or when it’s dark outside, you can hop on a treadmill anytime, even if you only have a few minutes. Plus, if your treadmill is in constant view, it serves as a visual reminder. We can always make excuses why we don’t do our daily exercise, but as soon as we recognize that they are just excuses, we can overcome our reticence and get to work on doing our bit towards our healthy weight loss campaign

Healthy Weight Loss

I’m sure you have noticed just how many people are carrying around extra weight. This has become a very serious health issue and the problems will continue to grow unless people take their weight more seriously. There is no magic bullet when it comes to losing weight. Or should I say no magic pill…or exercise equipment…or diet! It just takes some common sense and some will power to achieve healthy weight loss.

When it come to weight, women seem to have a bit more difficulty at losing those extra pounds than men do. There could be several reasons for this. Women have more body fat throughout their lives as compared to men. After menopause, women generally gain weight. Research is still conflicting as to whether this is due solely to menopause or solely to age (because men also typically gain weight as they become older), or perhaps a combination of age and menopause. Our ability to maintain weight loss is hampered also with age. I myself feel this also may be caused by my creaky knees and legs, which makes long walks a bit more difficult.

It does not matter how much weight you have to lose, you still have to make certain changes in your life style. If you fail at making those changes you will fail at any healthy weight loss plan. Whether you are trying to lose 5 pounds or more than 50, the same simple laws of physics determine whether or not you will lose weight and how fast your weight loss will occur. Remembering these simple guidelines and putting them into practice can lead to weight loss without the aid of any special diet plans, books, or medications.

Healthy weight loss should be the goal of all who need to lose weight. We are in total control of our weight and how we approach this issue will determine how effective we are at losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight. As individuals, we regulate the amount of food we consume each day, so our intake of calories is something we can control. To a major degree, we can also control our output of energy, or the number of calories we burn each day. The number of calories we burn each day is dependent upon our basal metabolic rate (BMR), the number of calories we burn per hour simply by being alive and maintaining body functions and our level of physical activity.

There is no question that our work and leisure time play a significant role in our weight gains and losses. Lifestyle and work habits partially determine how many calories we need each day. Someone whose job involves heavy physical labor will naturally burn more calories in a day and have faster weight loss than someone who sits at a desk most of the day (a sedentary job). For people who do not have jobs that require intense physical activity, exercise or increased physical activity can increase the number of calories burned which will increase your natural weight loss.

We can all be successful in achieving healthy weight loss. All it takes is the personal determination and accepting the fact that we will more than likely develop health problems if we do not take this issue serious. As a rough estimate, an average woman 31-50 years of age who leads a sedentary lifestyle needs about 1,800 calories per day to maintain a normal weight. A man of the same age requires about 2,200 calories. Any amount of calories less than this number will usually result in weight loss. Participating in a moderate level of physical activity (exercising three to five days per week) requires about 200 additional calories per day. As you can see, weight loss is just a matter of taking in less calories than your body burns. I know this is the scientific explanation for weight loss, but somehow, I’ve never been able to see it as that simple.

Lose Weight Fast

Lose Weight Fast

For most people who want to shed some of those extra pounds, one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome is that of patience. Too many people want to lose weight fast, however we have to realize that healthy weight loss takes time. There are no magic diets, pills or exercise equipment that will make those unwanted pounds disappear over night. We just have to be patient and approach our weight loss plan using common sense and be committed. It takes a great deal of self discipline to accomplish any goals we set for ourselves, whether it is weight related or something else. Lack of commitment usually means failure. Too many people give up and simply quit.

As individuals we all have different body types and metabolisms. People fail to realize that our ability to lose weight is directly related to body and its metabolism. Unfortunately some people put weight on more easily than others and also lose weight more easily than others. However the bottom line is you are overweight because you are eating the wrong foods for your particular body type. If you were eating the right foods you wouldn’t need to lose weight

A common misconception is that if you want to lose weight fast then just stop eating. Well, that will work, but you’ll eventually stop breathing as well! We need to eat when trying to lose weight but we have to modify our eating habits. Did you know that food is more powerful than any weight loss pill when it comes to being able to lose weight because the food you eat will either make you thin or fat. You get fat because you eat the wrong foods at the wrong time of day. It is undoubtedly true that your daily eating pattern can also affect your ability to lose weight. It is even better to have 5 smaller meals at regular intervals

Starvation is not the answer to losing weight. If you try to lose weight by starving yourself you will undoubtedly fail because your metabolism will very quickly detect a drop in calories and will then adjust itself to burn less calories each day. So basically if your have gained weight because you have eaten the wrong foods at the wrong time of day you can now lose weight by eating the right foods at the right time of day. If you have ever looked at the home based business industry you are aware of the many different products on the market to help you lose weight in a healthy manner.

Successful weight loss involves one very important aspect that many people seem to neglect. And to maintain any weight loss it is absolutely necessary. If you want to successfully lose weight you have to change your whole outlook on food and your way of eating, hopefully then you will maintain that weight loss. It is also important to realize that if your diet isn’t working for your weight it won’t be working for your overall health either.

Being over weight is not a healthy life style. Although our body may feel fine, problems certainly develop as a result of the extra weight we add to it. And trying to lose weight fast can simply cause more problems. If you are living under the misapprehension that you can be fat and healthy, it is time to change your mind set. This cannot be true. More often than not overweight people suffer from life threatening diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Don’t fall into the trap of becoming one of life’s statistics. Find out how to lose weight fast while you have the chance to change you future health. Some have even taken their weight loss issues and turned it into a business opportunity.

Healthy Weight Loss

How many people do you know that have to lose some weight? You will be amazed at the number if you actually sit down and make a list. And what is more amazing is that many of these people will start a weight loss plan without understanding what they are actually doing? Is it any wonder that we find it so difficult to lose weight. Well, maybe that is not the most difficult part. Keeping the excess weight of is probably the problem for most of us. We can lose that extra weight but then revert back to our old habits and regain the weight. The cycle continues. This pattern is not a healthy weight loss plan.

The weight loss industry has become a very big business. It can become very confusing for those looking for a weight loss plan that will fit their needs. There are many weight loss regimes that are completely scientific in their approach. Many people forget that the human body is very finely tuned and needs careful treatment if it is to function optimally and the same goes for healthy weight loss and weight gain. If you feed your body with the wrong foods you may find it reacts badly.

Knowing about the food we eat and their nutritional value can be an important part of any weight loss plan, yet we seem to overlook this aspect. For example if your blood sugar is going up and down then it’s the time to realize that something is wrong. If it is not balanced then your body will stop using up energy and will convert it into fat and store it and ultimately you won’t lose weight. Research shows that the best foods for enjoying good weight are those that don’t cause a sharp rise in blood sugar levels. Are you overweight and want to drop a pound per week? Don’t lose hope! Even if you’re addicted to junk foods, all it takes is a few simple food changes and you can enjoy a good healthy weight loss and peaceful life with a flat belly.

We certainly do not have to become doctors in order to lose weight, but we should become more informed about the effects different foods has on our bodies. For example, did you know chromium is essential for maintaining blood sugar because without it the insulin that controls the blood sugar level within the body would not function? Foods containing chromium, like onions, licorice, cinnamon etc have this property. Foods that cause blood sugar to rise are generally any foods containing pure sugar and refined carbohydrates. They cause the body to produce insulin, which makes you crave food constantly, leading to weight gain. The answer is to have more complex carbohydrates and foods like almonds, quinoa, millet, hummus, avocado, lentils, and walnuts. All of these foods will actually help you to achieve natural weight loss the healthy way

Making changes in what we eat is probably one of the most important things we can do do help us lose weight. It is difficult to change our habits but it is also necessary if we want to improve our health. It just takes time so be patient. If you make these substitutions, you’ll not only look slimmer, you’ll be healthier too in both the short and long terms. Controlling your blood sugar levels can give you enough energy and fight against variety of health conditions including diabetes. It can also ensure the healthy weight loss you so desire.
